Psychology of Dieting

beck-dietSo to carry on from yesterday, how do we lose body fat without becoming diet victims ?

This is not an easy question to answer in one short posting. We need to change our minds, our way of thinking. The best way I have come across for changing my mind about weight loss is a couple of books. these are Paul McKenna’s method and The Beck Diet Solution.

These address the mind problems associated with weight loss and the regain of fat after a weight loss diet. The solution is an attitude change that calls for a different view of food that is not characterized by the “no pain, no gain” ethos.

These authors, especially Beck, show you how to lose weight and keep it off using strategies that change the way you think about food. You still have to restrict your food intake to lose the excess fat you are carrying around right now. But they teach you how to keep it off for ever.

The Beck Diet Solution isn’t a diet in that it doesn’t tell you what to eat. But it does tell you that you will have to use a healthy weight loss plan to get thin again.

In fact it tells you to find two healthy weight loss diets of your choice. So we still have to sort the rubbish and choose a healthy way to eat.

Judith Beck has just come out with a new book which does give guidance on what to eat. She says that she wrote the second book because she felt that people were choosing unhealthy diets to use with her method. But it is up to you. You can still choose your own weight loss plan and use the Beck Diet Solution with it if you wish.
