The Greenlane diet is not a 3 day diet, it is a 4 week diet, and there is no promise that you will lose 10lbs-as is stated on various message boards. Those are embellishments, though my friend Phil, who gave it to me, tells me she drops about 5kg (11lbs) on it every year. It isn’t hard to stick to because the strict part is only for 3 days after which you can eat normally.
The Greenlane diet is said to have originated at the Greenlane Hospital, a specialist heart surgery hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. The greenlane diet has travelled around the world by word of mouth. Its origins are as a quick weight loss diet for very obese subjects needing urgent heart surgery.
Well that is the story and it rings true since there really is such a hospital and morbidly obese people are at much greater risk in surgery so a quick crash diet to get rid of a few pounds in a hurry is reasonable. I haven’t rung them to check whether this is their diet though. Still wherever the Greenlane diet came from it has somehow spread throughout the English speaking world and lots of people have tried it and found it helpful.
I do not recommend such crash diets though. Rather than going on the Greenlane diet you would be much better off to follow a sensible diet that will help you to lose weight and keep it off, albeit more slowly.
The friend that gave me this diet plan tells me she goes on once a year to lose accumulated weight- she says it works really well and she finds it relatively easy to do. She eats what she likes and then gets rid of it in the summertime. (I think that is a bit crazy and is abusing your body but it suits her.) She gave me the version of the Greenlane diet that she uses and it is a lot different from the ones I have seen appearing on various message boards online. Since we live closest to the Greenlane Hospital in New Zealand this version is probably closest t to the original diet.

I think this article is really good as it has explained all the diet chart which is good for health and help in weight loss. I am also agree with you that to lose weight we should not go for crash diet rather we should follow proper diet.
