Fun Exercise for Weight Loss
We all know, don’t we, that we have to do some cardio exercise to lose weight? (Some strength training too but I just want to talk about the cardio exercise today.)
Maybe like me you have exercised at various times but have found that for one reason or another you just don’t seem to be able to keep it up long term. If a break in routine occurs, such as a vacation or an illness, it is really hard to get back into your exercise routine.
Why is that do you think? Could it be that we just don’t get enough pleasure from exercising?
If so then the secret is to find some exercise that you love. Something that you have done purely for pleasure at some time in your life. I can think of few things that tick that box for most of us better than dance.
So today I want to introduce you to a wonderful dance exercise to lose weight that is also great fun. You do this at home so it will neither disrupt your routine nor cost a small fortune and no one is watching you. It is an at home version of Zumba taught by Theresa Stevens, a certified Zumba dance teacher.
Theresa’s idea is that you can lose weight much more easily if you are doing it for pleasure rather than painful duty. I think she has a point. Dance is fun and the most important factor in keeping you going with your exercise is that you love it and can’t wait to do it each day.
This is what Theresa says:
“… how long can you keep up a routine of riding an exercise bike at the gym when it’s mindless and boring. And on top of that—you see no positive results—no weight-loss and just a dent in your bank account from your monthly gym membership. I’ve been there and done that! Doesn’t work, does it?
Or, what about those weight-lifting programs that guarantee you immediate fat loss with no effort? I don’t know about you—but I make horrible, painful-looking faces and grunting sounds when I lift weights—and I do not want people seeing me like that in a public gym.
And–how long can you starve yourself by counting “calories” or deprive yourself of eating delicious, yummy food? Not long, right! Traditional “diet” plans set you up for complete failure and yo-yo weight-loss and gain. I know, because I’ve been there.”
